How we create, review, and publish content on this site
At Laughing LMAO, we take our content seriously — even when the content is a pun about coal. This page explains how articles are researched, written, reviewed, and published, and what standards every piece of content must meet before it goes live.
We believe readers deserve to know where their content comes from and how it was made. These standards apply to every article, joke list, pun collection, and guide on this site.
1. Our Content Mission
Laughing LMAO exists to be the most useful and genuinely funny humor resource on the internet. Our goal is simple:
- Help people find the right pun, joke, or funny line for any occasion
- Publish content that is original, readable, and actually worth sharing
- Build a site readers trust enough to return to again and again
We are not a content farm. We do not publish articles just to fill pages. Every piece of content published on this site is intended to be useful to a real person with a real need — whether that’s finding a birthday pun, a comedy script for a speech, or the best local comedy club.
2. Who Creates Our Content
Laughing LMAO is run by Aaron Laughsmith — a working comedian with over 10 years of experience in stand-up, hosting, and comedy writing. Aaron oversees all content on this site and is responsible for the editorial direction, tone, and quality standards.
Content on this site is produced through a combination of:
- Direct writing and curation by Aaron and our editorial team
- Audience research to understand what readers are actually looking for
- AI-assisted drafting and brainstorming tools (see Section 4 for full details)
All content — regardless of how it was drafted — is reviewed and approved by a human editor before publication.
3. Our Editorial Review Process
Every article published on Laughing LMAO goes through the following steps before it goes live:
Step 1 — Topic Research
We identify topics based on what readers are genuinely searching for, seasonal relevance, and gaps in existing content. We do not publish on topics just because they are easy to fill — the topic must have real audience demand.
Step 2 — Content Drafting
A draft is created covering the topic in full. For pun and joke articles, this means collecting, generating, and organizing a comprehensive list — not a thin, padded collection. For guides and informational articles, this means accurate, well-structured information.
Step 3 — Editorial Review
Before any article is published, it is reviewed for:
- Accuracy — are the facts, venue details, or references correct?
- Humor quality — are the puns and jokes actually funny, or just filler?
- Readability — is the article easy to scan, well-organized, and clearly written?
- Originality — does the article offer something readers can’t find in 10 seconds elsewhere?
- Tone — does it match the warm, inclusive, groan-worthy voice of this site?
Step 4 — Publication
Once approved, the article is published with a clear publish date. We do not backdate articles or manipulate publication timestamps.
Step 5 — Ongoing Updates
We review and update existing articles periodically — especially comedy club guides and any content that references real-world information that may change. Updated articles display a “last updated” date alongside the original publish date.
4. Our Use of AI-Assisted Tools
“Some content on this site is created or enhanced using AI-assisted editorial tools, alongside human research, review, and editing. All articles are approved by a human editor before publication.”
We use AI tools as part of our editorial workflow in the following ways:
- Brainstorming — generating initial lists of puns or joke ideas to work from
- Drafting — producing early-stage article drafts that are then reviewed and rewritten
- Organization — helping structure and categorize large collections of content
- Research assistance — summarizing background information on topics
We do not use AI to:
- Publish unreviewed, unedited content directly to the site
- Generate factual claims about real venues, events, or people without verification
- Replace human editorial judgment on what is funny, accurate, or useful
AI is a tool in our workflow — not a replacement for editorial judgment. The decision of what gets published, how it is framed, and whether it meets our quality standards is always made by a human.
We believe this is an honest and responsible approach to modern content creation, and we are transparent about it because our readers deserve to know.
5. Accuracy and Fact-Checking
For humor content — puns, jokes, and comedy scripts — our accuracy standard is about quality and originality, not factual claims. We aim to publish puns that are genuinely clever, well-crafted, and worth sharing.
For informational content — such as our comedy club city guides — we apply a stricter standard:
- Venue details (address, hours, booking info) are verified against official sources before publication
- We do not include venues we cannot verify exist and are currently operating
- Guides are reviewed and updated when we become aware of changes
If you notice an error in any article on this site, please contact us and we will review and correct it within 48 hours.
6. Our Tone and Content Standards
Every article on Laughing LMAO is written to be:
- Inclusive — humor that everyone can enjoy, regardless of background
- Clean — we avoid crude, offensive, or mean-spirited content
- Genuine — we only publish puns and jokes we would actually share ourselves
- Original — we do not copy or republish content from other sites
We do not publish content that targets individuals, uses slurs, or relies on harmful stereotypes. Comedy should bring people together — that is the standard every article on this site is held to.
7. Corrections and Updates Policy
We are committed to getting things right. If an article contains an error:
- Contact us via our contact page with the article URL and the nature of the error
- We will review the report within 48 hours
- If confirmed, we will correct the article and note the update at the bottom of the page
- We do not silently edit articles to remove errors — corrections are noted transparently
For comedy club guides and other location-based content, we actively monitor for venue closures, address changes, and other updates. If you know a venue listed on our site has closed or changed, please let us know.
8. Advertising and Monetization
Laughing LMAO is supported by display advertising. This means:
- We may display ads from ad networks including Google AdSense and similar platforms
- Advertisers have no influence over our content, editorial decisions, or which articles we publish
- We do not accept payment to write about specific venues, products, or services
- Our comedy club guides and other recommendations are based on editorial judgment only
Our editorial content is kept fully separate from our advertising relationships. A venue being featured in a guide does not mean they are an advertiser, and being an advertiser does not guarantee coverage.
9. Contact and Feedback
We genuinely want to hear from readers — whether it’s an error to flag, a pun category you’d like to see, or just feedback on the site.
